I would kill for a complete kt like that for my 5. 4. 2v. At that price
Tell me about it! I hope that some day I can get a Lightning engine swapped into the Excursion. 5.4s are capable of some pretty crazy HP figures and the Excursion would be equally crazy.
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with a blown V10? I have to wonder if the factory cooling is sufficient. It seems to me that an entire cooling system upgrade might be required, too.
the v10 has a 2 core radiator unlike the 5.4 which has a 1 core. Ford is a cheap a$$ and put a 1 core in my X.My mustang makes 5oowhp and I drive it often to work 38 miles and it has a 2 core. Not sure if thats apples to oranges.
Even harder to find is the TS-2000 KB kit for the '87-'97 Ford 460 EFI. I have been looking for almost 6 years now with no luck. Found one guy on here that "used" to have one. In the last three years I have seen at least 2 of these V10 kits on Ebay, one of then new in the box. All I have in my possession is the owner/ install manual to the 460 kit, which has plenty of pictures. I know there has got to be one under a rock somewhere. One day...........

I don't have a KB but the Vortech part number 4FT218-030SQ - 1999-2003 F-250, F-350, Super Duty, Excursion 6.8L V-2 SQ Si-Trim High-Output System. With the intercooler (sits in front of the radiator so it limits airflow slightly) even I have not had a single issue with overheating of the engine. Not even close to an issue while pulling an open car trailer with an F350 dually on it in 100 degree heat. The KB is a little more efficient than my setup so I cannot imagine it increase engine temps more than my setup. As mentioned, this setup creates a monster out of the V10. Been tested by diesel powered trucks and I usually laugh to myself and sometimes in their direction. I think they assume I'm not so smart having all the pillar gauges on a gasser. No, I don't have an A/F gauge but do need the boost, fuel pressure, and trans temp. This kit is rated at 8 PSI but I've seen it creep just over 10 PSI when really on it and if the fuel pressure drops because of a clogged filter or something silly then engine go boom at that PSI. Those that believe the powder rods cannot survive more than 6 PSI over a long period I laugh. I have about 40K miles with this setup with zero issues.
I did have this combination tuned by a very capable local shop which put bigger injectors in, I believe they are 42's but not 100% sure. My biggest block now is I have the stock exhaust which is limiting my power and possibly raising my EGT slightly. Tuner recommended I could pick up 30 to 50 hp with headers and a custom exhaust.
I know from experience that simply putting a bigger pipe in the "Y" pipe below the manifolds on the 5.4's and V10's will wake them up quite a bit, even with he crappy *** factory exhaust. Way more responsive above 3,000 rpm. I used to buy them from some guy selling them on ebay. If you want a cheap factory looking exhaust just take a complete system from the cat back off a 99-03 powerstroke. They are 3 1/2" and all the hangers are in the same place, just need an adapter up front. I used to put a lot of these on gas superdutys after putting 4" kits on the diesels and having them left over.
