Rear end vibration when acclerating off stop/turn
HI all,
I had been having an issue with the rear of my truck vibrating when I was turning and/or accelerating from a dead stop. I had done a lot of research about having to regrease the slip joint in the drive shaft. I went to my local mechanic and he really helped me out.
he told me to just get a grease gun (which I had) and a "greasing needle" from autozone or such, and grease the slip joint . all I did was insert the needle into the joint sleeve and put about a half tube of grease in and all is good..
the grease seals the needle puncture when you pull it out of the boot sleeve.

The best thing that I have found on my F-250 with 230K on the clock is to go to Ford and get a tube of "PTFE" lubricant.
Remove the drive shaft separate the yolk and grease by hand.
The Ford grease will last 6 months to a year or until you pull a really heavy load.
Tip; Get a six point 8mm socket or box end wrench for the U-bolts on the universal joint or risk rounding the bolt heads.
This procedure takes me about 10 minutes to do.

I had the same issue. I sent y rear driveshaft out and had it completely rebuilt. They also rebalanced it. I was surprised at the amount of counterweights they added to get it to balance. But I will say it drives like a completely different truck. Like brand new. And to think all this time I thought my rearend was going out and my tires were bad. Nope.
