Yep, 75lbs is about right. Pull it loose from the back-end before you undue the bolts in the front to make it easier to drop.
right..
I dropped the hanger just in front of the rear tire,
disconnected the sensor wires,
removed the side hangers from the chassis,
removed the bolts between the cat & downpipe,
then loosened the rearmost pipe clamp.
then pulled the rear end of the dpf down to break loose and disconnect from rear pipe.
then lifted dpf & cat out with jack..
that seems a little heavy. I do them often enugh it not really a big deal. air hammer them in air hammer them out 15-20 min.
when reinstalling coat the back of the pipe with wd 40 makes em slide in pretty easy.
I take it off or put it back in 20 minutes. Entire DPF/DOC as one unit. No lift or jack. My driveway has the perfect slope to park the front wheels on the driveway and rear wheels in the street. A ratchet strap works real well to squeeze everything back together once it's on the hangers.
Just curious.. did you guys get covered with a 5lb load of ash when the DPF dropped off?
I'm wondering, for those of use who still use the DPF, if it's worth some periodic manual 'cleaning' to blow out any accumulated ash.
there should not be 'accumulated ash'.. .. there will be some tar etc that is burned onto the ceramic filter.. you have to heat the dpf to a couple 1000 degrees and wash it out with some cleaner.. currently nobody does this.

Sam,
I was thinking in a recent issue of Diesel Power (?) there was a company that made a shop size (like a tire changer) machine that could clean a DPF...? I'll see if I can dig it up, for those people that are sticking with it that's one spicy meatball if you need to pay for a new one!
