56 dash repair

looking for a 56 dash in decent condition.. mine is all hacked up.

anyone have any pointers to places where one might be found?

this might be better than attempting to repair the hack..

If you wanted to be original and graft in a 51-2 dash, I could probably help.

I bought this one some years ago off ebay...forgot what I had to pay for it but I figured that it would come in handy one one of my future projects. I just scrapped a 56 cab a few months ago that had a good dash, I didn't bother taking it out because it seemed like it was a lot of work and I already had a spare.

I dunno. You seem to be pretty handy with a welder and this looks like it'd be easier than tackling the floor. I think it's repairable. Hole saw you a couple of patches and cut you a rectangle for the... um.. hatcheted radio hole, a little filler and high build primer and no one would know the wiser. Just my thoughts after seeing the other work you've done. I think you could make short work of the dash repairs.

I gotta hand it to the PO, it takes ***** of steel or a helluva sense of humor to mount your column drop where he did... what an idiot.

Little OT but i noticed that I purchased the same column as you did. I have the indicator for overdrive, but it didn't come with the standard PRND21. Where did you get yours? And do you have to change the detent plate down inside the column awsell??

thanks for the vote of confidence on the repair.. hate flat surfaces that are really visible..

on the column, its a generic from CPP, from EBAY, another one for sale here Universal Chrome Shift Steering Column With Tilt 30" | eBay
I don't think this one has a detent plate to change..

Hey Sam,
I went back & looked at the pics of your dashboard. It doesn't look that bad - I've attached my prize dashboard for perspective on the true meaning of hacked up.
