51 or 52 Panel, Should I have left it in the bush

Hi guys, I'm a new member. Actually this is my first post. I rescued this Panel Truck from the bush where it has sat for over 30 years. It's pretty rough. I hope it's salvageable. Here is a link to photos showing where it sat, being hauled out and then how she looks in the light of day.

Welcome to the insanity. Looks like it's quite a project. It's a 51 and has the 5 Star Deluxe options. 52 has a different hood and trim. Can you post some pictures of the interior?

Here's my 51 (red) and 52 (green).

Welcome to the forum! That's a good looking truck. Does the motor turn over by hand?

[QUOTE=51PanelMan;10727103]Welcome to the insanity. Looks like it's quite a project. It's a 51 and has the 5 Star Deluxe options. 52 has a different hood and trim. Can you post some pictures of the interior?

Wow, those are impressive. Something to aspire too. Thanks for clarifying that it's a 51, I didn't know how to tell. Pic 7 shows the interior a bit, it's been sitting without glass for many years, so it's in really sad shape inside ( well outside as well ) I just got it home so I haven't had a chance to see if it's seized or not yet. It's fairly complete, just really rough.
I'll post more pictures of the interior once I clean it a bit. I will post progress photos but it may get boring as it's going to be at least a 2 year project. Thanks.

You're right. Pic 7 shows the interior. I wanted to see if it still had the original "bucket" seats that came in the Panels. Yours has a bench seat from a truck. Originally, the Panel came with a driver's seat only. The passenger seat was an option.

Don't be shy about posting pictures and asking questions. We love both!

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you. That's a great looking panel. Don't worry, most of that will buff right out. Looking forward to following your project.

It's because of his camera lens

welcome to the site.....Great truck, and looks like everything is there. The consolation is, no one else has been hacking on it.

Welcome! Some guys (not me) have had worst looking trucks/panels when they started... It all depends on your abilities, desire and money. Stick with it and you'll have a nice ride.

Welcome Aboard! In one of the pictures it looks like plants or moss are actually growing in the back bumper of the truck. Was it an ambulance in a prior life?

Good to have you on the forum. That truck was really hiding in the bushes....how'd you find it???

It's rough, but it still looks salvagable. Front fenders seem to be readily available for a 51, but you'll have to work on a rust repair for the holes in the back.
