blue smoke and oil consumption
I need some advice on what I should do with my 1993 ford f 350 with a 7.3 idi turbodiesel. Right now my truck uses about 2 qts of oil per week. I also get quite a bit of blue smoke while I'm driving, especially when im decelerating. I also have barely any oil pressure at idle and only about 25 psi while cruising on the highway. My question is why would this happen at only 125,000 miles? It seems like you guys get lots more miles out of your engines then that. Hi baby the truck and always change oil at regular intervals and take care of everything mechanically on the vehicle. What I'm asking you guys is I want to make sure that it isn't something else causing these symptoms before I go and replace the engine.

Do you have a "real" oil pressure gauge? The ones in the dash are borderline useless.
Oil consumption can be caused by a dirty/ and or bad CDR valve.
To clean the CDR, remove (2, 1/2" bolts).
Now before cleaning the CDR, you want to make sure it's still good. On the top part of the CDR, you should see a very small vent hole. Put your mouth on that hole, and with your finger inside the hole on the opposite side (where is connects to the back of the intake), blow with your mouth in that little vent hole, and you should feel with your finger the diaphragm inside move.
If all this is fine, move to next step of cleaning.
Soak it in a pot filled with gasoline.
Let it soak for well over an hour, and once and a while during that hour time, take it out, shake it well, dump it back in the gas, take it out, shake again etc. etc. do this at least 5-6 times during that hour.
Once done, take it out, make sure all gas is poured out of it. Now set it somewhere standing up and let AIR DRY by it's self.
DO NOT BLOW COMPRESSED AIR IN IT! It will blow apart the diaphragm inside!
And if it's bad, you can still get these things at Ford dealers. Can't remember exactly how much are they.
The CDR (Crankcase Depression Regulartor) is the exact same thing as a PCV valve on a gas engine, and heres what it looks like on a non turbo model.
Your turbo engine should be located on the passenger side valve cover.
