51 Chrome trim on front of the hood

Any ideas where I can get the chrome hood trim emblem? The one on the front not the side pieces.

They're not being reproduced. I see them pop up on eBay from time to time in nice shape. The typical price for one with decent chrome seems to be $75-$100.

I tried to have mine powder coated and the guy ruined it with the blasting. Put a bunch of holes in it and tried to give it back saying that was normal. If anybody has an extra in good shape I would buy it.

I have a couple. Just need to dig them up. Can also get one chromed or powder coated for you.

That would be awesome. What would the cost shipped to 60416? I need the 51 that has the ford stamped into it above 3 holes.

Maybe yours isn't really ruined. You can fill the holes with JB Weld, sand smooth, then have it powder coated. I've done this on nasty old wheels and it works great. The powder coat sticks good, and cheap too. Stu

JB weld held up to the heat from powder coating?

Yes. IIRC, the JB package says up to 600 degrees. The powder coater said they bake at 400 degrees. Probably should check the package and ask powder coater up front. Different shops might use different baking temps. There is also another product sold through Eastwoods, called Lab Metal, that does the same job. Two shops I asked said to just use JB. Stu

I know you want it powder coated, but another option is to cover it with filler, sand, prime and paint with automotive paint.
