92 F150 starter wiring
Purchased a 92 f150 it has the wrong starter in it. It has the old large Ford starter with one wire. Just purchased the proper starter for it which is the mini starter. Can anyone tell me where the where the small black wire that is hooked to the small terminal on the starter solenoid hooks to? The small wire looks to be approx 12 gauge wire. Thanks for the Help.

Welcome to the forum Captain.
How is that old style starter getting it's power now?
If someone has added a inner fender starter solenoid then you should just disconnect the heavy power cable coming from the starter and connect that directly under the + battery clamp nut.
Run a 10Ga. primary wire from the old style starter solenoid post to the trigger wire of the solenoid on the new style starter.
(pull down is 41.948 A, hold down 12.405A on mine)
Yes, I know you're using one solenoid to trigger another but that's what I did when I went to a later style mini gear reduction starter on my truck.
(perhaps a mod will move this to the proper '87-'96 forum)

Yeah,
I converted my "old style" to the newer gear reduction starter.
Take the big starter cable off the solenoid and attach it under the positive battery clamp nut.
Then take a piece of 10 gauge primary wire and run it from the abandoned solenoid stud down to the black solenoid pigtail on the new style starter.
Do not jumper the existing starter cable to the trigger wire, it will backfeed when the engine tries to spin the starter.
