Help?

Hey Guys,

New to the site here; just thought I'd say hello and see if anyone could help me out with a hesitation problem I'm having with my '77 F-100...

Just installed a freshly built 400/C-6 combo and have got about 500 miles on it... It pulls really strong just easing the throttle up from idle to about 3500 rpm.

Figured I'd start opening her up today but realized she will stall out if I try to run it WOT from a take off or out on the road...

I'm running an Edelbrock Performer 750cfm carb and Performer 400 intake on top of a pretty stout 400...

I've got about 7psi fuel pressure from a new Carter mechanical pump, timing is @ 10*.

I just stepped up my accelerator pump wich seemed to help a little... Not enough Volume? Do I need a electric pump?...?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ryan

Ps... Here's a pic of my truck

Edelbrock max fuel psi is 6psi. First you need a regulator.

Next try richening to the next step with your metering rods.
The fuel graph is in the manual for your carb.

So 1psi too much would make it act up?... I didn't think it would make that much of a difference; I'll borrow a regulator from my buddy tomorrow.

Should have read my manual a little better I guess.

Well, fuel pressure isn't the problem so I'm waiting on a calibration kit from the local Carquest...

In the meantime I borrowed a buddies Holley 650DP and what a difference... Feels like I dropped a totally different engine in the truck.

WOT from an idle and she will smoke the back tires even with the 2.73 Dana 44 in the rear...

PUT A SMALLER CARB ON IT, 600 OR 650 IS BIG ENOUGH . MECH. PUMP IS GOOD UP TO 700 HP. NO NEED FOR ELECTRIC.....

Yeah, that's what different guys are telling me but it's a new carb... I'll try tuning it before I throw it in the woods...

Dana 44 rear??? That's what I thought when I looked under it for the first time...where's the 9"?

I got it from pretty much the origional owner and it's been in there since new.
