The A/C blows cold but when I switch to Max Air and then accelerate the blower stops. When I slow down the blower comes back on. It does not happen when in the Normal A/C position. I had a car do this before but it was happening on normal air and not max air. The car problem was a relay gone bad. Any ideas where to start checking?

 

Sounds like you have a bad white vacuum line that is in the photo below.
What is happening is the air is going to defrost vent when you open the throttle.

You nailed it subford. Thanks so much. It was 104 today when I tested the repair. The vacuum tubing had started to crumble. I cut it off where it comes out of the bundle. Then I cut the tape off of the bundle and reconnected the vacuum line.Secured the bundle with tie wraps. I would have thanked you sooner but I got called into work right after I finished the repair.

 

that happened to me and the hose rotted so far back i ended up just zip tieing the thing.
