Looking to purchase the upper half of the steering column in original red. Previous owner did a PS conversion and used a late model shift collar and wheel. Any info you can give me on whether its possible to go back to original given PS conversion would be helpful also! Don't know if they made PS version in 66 or later that could work!

I dont have any steering column parts except the shift indicator used on the original style columns and horn brushes and a steering wheel.

The steering wheel is the same type you see in Carpenters catalog...mine isnt red either though...If the column you have matches the primary interior color(red, blue, green, beige) its an original most likely...if its black it could be original as well...but black wasnt one of the color keyed colors available...it matched the bench seat and floormat typically.

This forum and you guys are great!!! I am going to try to reconvert this myself even though I haven't so much as replaced a starter motor in 10 years! I am hoping that the column is stock (did you see my picture in the Lawspawn album?) and I can just replace from the shift collar up and re-hook up the linkages. As I understand it, power steering components all start from the gearbox on and are not affected by what is happening in the column. Is that right?

I was thinking of those metal pieces that are above the glove box. I think they are a set of 2 or 3?
