I totally agree. These are good trucks with lots of piece/parts/electronics. Very expensive o fix. Wish I had one on my '04.

I have a friend that owns a repair shop. He told me to get it! lol He said even if the power steerinf went out it would be costly to repair. I also got the $0 deductible so or I could have got the Premium package for about $400 cheaper. I don't want to spend more money down the road on repairs! lol

My dealer quoted $2300 for 5 yr. 125,00 mile premium care warranty. I went down the list of things covered and started checking off items I had done on my 05 and I think i could have paid for this warranty several times over with what I spent on repairs. So I will definitely be getting the warranty on my new truck, which will hopefully be here this week. If nothing else I am paying for peace of mind. I hope I never need to use it.

I drive about 12-13k miles a year... so I really wanted more time than miles. That's why I went 7 yr 100k miles.

I've owned a 2000, 2003, 2006 and now my 2011 and I've never paid for enough repairs to justify an ESP on any of those trucks. Yes they had a few problems, But it always seemed to be under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

I think the worst that I had was the #2 selinoid going out in my tranny on my 06 and that only cost $700. I had a couple $100 deductibles for glow plugs, FCIM and HPOP, But even with the deductables, I never spend $2000 in repairs.

I put a 100,000 miles on a truck in about 4 years. So the extra time does me no good.

Ford used to offer a plan of 7 years 200,000 miles on their diesels....

You got a FICM unit replaced under the powertrain warranty? Thought that usually fell under electrical?

Have a fellow Super Duty 6.0 Driver here in Town, he's lost his FICM twice this summer, first time before I could tell him about a repair shop who does them for $250 and has a 3 or 5 year warranty, then he lost it again a month later....$2000 he spent in 6 weeks on FICMs, and he still has a POC Stock Ford FICM unit in the truck to boot. He didn't have one good thing to say about his Superduty, at that point it might as well been scrap to him.....I think the dealership raked him...he shoudn't of had a FICM unit fail in one month...!

I feel good about my Premium ESP. I can rest knowing that it only will cost me about 25 bux a month to know I won't have to pay a dime for the any repairs for the next 84 months....especially since this is a new engine/tranny setup!

Aren't you guys looking at both warranties? I was under the impression that the diesel was separate from the chassis power train extended?

Couple of thoughts on extended warranties. I would never purchase an extended warranty on a consumer item (non vehicle). The Cost versus cost of the product is stupid high, sometimes as high as 75% or more!

The cost of the extended warranty for vehicles is relatively low, especially when you start getting to the high end 64K+ DRW's

That said, I did over 18 years in several Dodge dealerships. I can't tell you many times we have had to tell customers "hello your repair is xxxx dollars" or "hello, your repair is covered and will cost you 25, 50 or 100 dollars", whatever the deductible was. And, though Chrysler, the repair was covered for 1 year or 12K.

I think you can figure out which phone call was more pleasant.

As to "non" factory warranties. Some are good, some are bogus, all will cause you some heartache. Buy the Ford offering. You can get service across this country and in the one to the north.

At every dealership I worked for, dealing with non MOPAR warranties was a hassle. Getting approvals - getting paid etc. Every dealer I worked for eventually took up the same policy, that being, we will fix your vehicle, YOU can pay us and then YOU can try and get reimbursed from your warranty company.

I agree with CornTruckDriver - there is a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty on Ford service and parts. The dealer should have replaced the second one under warranty unless the owner did something to cause the failure.

I got 8/ 100 year warranty from National Repair Solutions. I did my research on them and the policy is full re-insured by an insurance company. I paid $2200 $100 down payment with monthly payments too. Hope that helps!
