Rusted bracing under cab on 65 F-250

Hi Ya'll,

I've been doing all kinds of rust removal on a recently purchased 1965 F-250, and while most of it is cosmetic/grind-able, there's a brace that runs under the middle of the cab from left to right that's totally rusted out. Does anyone know if this part is available for replacement, or have folks just fabricated new ones? Thoughts?

Thanks!

-Ben

I've never run across a repop on the brace. I'll be drilling the spot welds out and rebuilding mine if there's enough of it left. I remember seeing pictures of repairs done by a couple people who used square tube stock or similar etc. Looked to me like a fairly easy thing to fabricate if you were'nt concerned with it not looking original.

Thanks for the reply These are way beyond repair, so I'll check out some metal yard alternatives.

Hello,
Could you share any photos of the brace? I have a 64 F250 4X4 that has LOTYS of rust. I am not too concerned about the floor pans but the brace that runs across the cab and bolts to the frame is rusted through. Would like to see if your issue and repair could give me some good repair ideas. Hope you having good luck with it

Gentlemen:
I still have some floor sections of a solid 66 f250 with braces intact. I'm waiting for someone to pick them up with a load of scrap metal so, if you can't find what you're looking for let me know soon. Email is fastest for me: ehershkowitz@hotmail.com

I'll include the rusty sections and the weld in parts I found at Dennis Carpenter

Mine are only rusted through on the lower sections right behind the wheels, so replacing an otherwise intact floor wouldn't do me much good. Sure sounds like that's the ticket for wildwindjerry, though!

Right side floor, looking at right front tire, that dark brown circle is the bolt to the frame, yikes!

I think that I am looking at a total loss on the cab, will need to find a donor truck some where. Unless the parts that are available through LMC and others can help this poor thing. I am good with drivetrains but not so much with body work, so any advice is much appreciated. I was undersneath it last night removing all drive shafts to prep for pulling the tranny, I looked closer at the rails running across the cab cloor and when I touched them, more large pieces fell off.
Of course this is an example of what happens when previous owners ignore this problem and hide it with carpet, rubber mats and repair panels and idiots like me do not look hard enough.

I wouldn't beat yourself up. My truck certainly had more rust that I thought once I got it home and started taking things apart, but there's always a solution! For complete floor panels you could look at something like this Left Front Floor Pan | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts or find a donor cab that someone's already restored for ultimate ease. I have "a guy" who always comes across nice Ford parts/trucks of all sizes and shapes, so PM me if interested and I'll give you his info. (Many folks, including myself have a couple connections that we keep mostly to ourselves )
