I just get sick when I see ads or hear of plans for people to stuff a SBC in a non Chevy. Sadly I saw the results of this first hand some years back. A neighbor guy imported a 1956 M-100 from Canada, all original, with the Mercury badgings & tailgate. heavil weatherworn (not much rust) but rock solid. The old 272 cranked up with the familiar groan and fired to life. It was a beautiful sound, lifters & all. But thats where it all ended. He informed me he was going to make it all Chevy mechanical and put it on a Chevelle frame--which he did. He even cut out the original dash & put a 1970-something Camaro dash in it.
Needless to say I never spoke to him again after he revealed his original plans but saw the truck at a cruise meet and just about threw up.

Old thread. OP posted in 2011, never got much help from any of his posts, even the ones where he was trying to get help with his Ford engine and trans.
