Fifth wheel hitch set-up

If ya'll been following my latest posts, I've landed a real nice pre-loved Cedar Creek fiver, so now it's on to the hitch-search for my '06 Super Duty SRW short bed. What's a dependable, easy-to-use slider that won't break the bank? I was told Draw-tite and Reese are owned by the same company and Reese is promoting their Chinese 'Pro' line. I've seen Curt hitches and Hitch World has a great deal on them complete with rail kits. That's another subject. Should I get custom brackets or universal? Is there any profound difference or just a matter of less labor time for installation? It seems the roller hitch's seem the way to go, I dunno. Finally.....if my fiver will weigh in around 14k gross and my truck can haul up to 15.6k, what hitch capacity should I consider.....16, 18, 20K?
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Lots of choices too look at here:
http://www.reeseprod.com/content/default.aspx

I would opt for 16-18K range.

fixed the link. Hope that works now. Just to the main page.

The elite series has several choices of in bed sliders and the hidden systems too.

I have a Husky slider. I went that route for price and also it is pretty easy to take out of the bed. Yes, I still have rails, but it breaks down into 2 parts with 5 pins and done. 3 minutes out, 3 minutes in.

I ordered up a Curt 20k Roller slider and custom brackets etc. Check out the link:
NEW 20K Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitch w/ R5 Roller/Slider [16536] - $983.77 : The Hitch Store
I gotta date Thursday with the LineX shop to remove my drop in liner and spray their magic. Boy, I'm gonna hate my CC bill next month.

Thanks Scott. I'm perty excited about the whole deal. I'm wondering if I can still roll my toneau cover back over the rails without the release handle poking into it. Does your hitch handle extend higher than the side rails?

Just barely sticks above. If I had a cover I don't think you would notice much.

There are so many barely used hitches on C-list I would never consider buying new. I picked up my Super 5th 20.5 for $200.
PullRite has a SAFER, STRONGER, BETTER designed hitch for you

You're probably looking for a slider, which are becoming more popular on the used market.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I can't take delivery much before Fri Sept 2. I was hoping for Monday 8/29. They have too many deliveries? I thought the RV business was flat at best? Damn.

I have a Reese slider and the release handle does stick up over the sides. I removed the cotter pin that holds the handle on and replaced it with a hair pin. Now I remove the handle and turn it upside down. My toneau cover fits with no problem....

I turn my release handle upside down when hitch not in use and that way I can use my toneau cover with no problem
