7.3 mileage

My 2 cents,
Bought my 5speed manual, CC dually new in '96 and reading 235,000. Pretty much stock w/ the exception of 6637 air filter, 3.25 DP, Cat delete, HPX, 203 stat. Only minor parts replacement to date e.g.. H20 pump, air pump, cps, etc. Nothing major. Still giving me 19-20. Runnin till the end.

Lets assume you payed $3.85 for diesel every fill up. (which may be a bit conservative)
$220/$3.85 a gallon = 57.14 gallons
1300 miles/57.14 gallons = 22.75 mpg

I'm not saying I don't buy it, but the only way I could get that kind of mileage is if I re-geared my truck, drove 55mph, on flat land, was empty, and I would need a strong tail wind, but cheers to you if you're truly pullin those kinds of mpg's

On my third auto trans! When I'm pulling I don't mess around. BTS next!

Hey 2002exPSD, when the fuse blows, does the mileage continue to record?

Mileage does not record on the od when the fuse blows, but it records in the computer. With a ford ngs, wds and ids scan tool you can go into the computer and pull the actual mileage of the truck. My gauge reads 249,000 but the computer reads 530k+. Wierd how that computer stuff works. I want to get the od changed to actual mileage. But that can only be done by upper management in a ford dealer with a collision department. Must be verified with a scan tool by at least 3 upper management ford employees before the tech can change the milage with a speacial scan tool.

22 mpg wouldn't be unheard of in our trucks. I average 20 mpg in my dually with 4.10 axle at 70 mph.

I have about 195,000 on my wife's CCLB Dually. 142,000 on it when we bought it 4 yrs ago. About 91,000 on my 97 4x4 CCLB SRW f350. Last yrs birthday present from the greatest wife ever. My only complaint is that they are both E40D equipped!

SORRY FOR THE INTERUPTION BUT THIS IS EMBARASSING US ALL.

I don't think I am an authorized spanker but:

I thought your gage read 513K? So the Ford dealer will scan the ACTUAL miles and have 3 UPPER level employees at a DEALERSHIP VERIFY it and then the mechanic is "authorized" to change it back?
As far as the OD, I am done no one INCLUDING you has an OD that reads 400K or higher on a OBS PSD. If I am wrong some one tell/show me different, please.

Furthermore, I do believe you are insulting what little inteligance I have.
I really don't believe anything you say and that is a shame b/c most people come here for help to fix their vehicle and then find that this is a fun place and stick around. Then they mod their trucks and find friends all over the world right here on this forum. I have total trust and respect for EVERYONE on our forum. It is tough when someone comes along and just starts KNOWINGLY lying (for what ever reason). When that happens they (which is YOU) degrades everyone and this forum.

Everyone gets it wrong now and then or normally says words like "I am not sure but I think" or "I would guess" or something like that.
PLEASE, in the future try to use those words. Oh, try to use words thank you or apprieciate (I can't even spell it but I know what it means). Please don't go away this is a great place and we need everyone here.

sorry for the interuption.

So this talk about the od going back from 400 to 300, the computer still tells you, if you know how to read it, the actual mileage?
