to tint windows or not

My 74 looks like it did when the original owner bought it brand new. I am debating on wether to tint the door windows or not. I tinted the back glass because i was tried of getting a sun tan on the back of my neck while driving around. What are the thoughts of having tinted windows on these classics? The tint on the back glass is not dark it is just dark enough to cut the sun a little. My truck color is black with the XLT Ranger package, so it has a little chrome to help break up the all black look. Thanks

in ny you can do i believe no more than 35% on the front and 50% or more on the back. i might have the % backwords.
When i got my truck all windows were like 5% limo tint some of the darkest i have ever seen. the PO even did the front brow and the lower
part across the wiper area with a ford logo one. Hard to see in the pic but here are some. i removed the side windows and the lower ford baneron in the front. it was like driving a tank with a peep window. DARK inside

Ive had some friends over the years plus several running around my area with tint & they all look good. Im sure if it was a 'junkyard truck' (different color body panels( it wouldnt look to good.

Hell my '94 was tinted when I got it & its the first tinted rig Ive had in years. Makes me wish my '90 was tinted when I was driving it & made me realize how bad my '82 needs it.

It's YOUR truck. Do what you want.

I've always been a fan of keeping windows stock. I like the classy look.

I agree more with HIO Silver though, you really need to do what you want to it, that is what makes it yours.

And just because I am a science nerd (physics specifically), I have to say that the resonant frequency of glass nearly matches that of ultraviolet rays. This causes the glass particles to absorb that portion of the light spectrum. Therefore the sun tan you are getting is not from sitting in your truck. It might be from working ON the truck!

I'm done now. Please reply with all sorts of ridicule and mockery. I can handle it, for alas, I am a nerd. But at least I am one that owns and enjoys his Ford trucks.

Your truck will look cool with or without tint, just don't legally over-tint it because if you get a "fix-it" ticket from the police you'll have thrown away your money.

I always think that tint is a good idea, but on older vehicles you shouldn't go overboard. I'd say definitely nothing over 35 really if you want that stock-but-modern look. In all reality though, it depends on what you want.

I live in a relatively sun deprived area. I am going to do this to my 73. I think it would look good.
I have this on my cars 30% on the sides. Eventually I got used to it on the non sun days. On sunny days it is really eye pleasant.

I'm a big fan of tinting as long as it is good tint and not the stuff that turns puple after a year. I think 35% would look good but woudlnt go much darker than 20%. I've had Llumar in the past which was very good but on my Super Duty I'm using Sunstar which is equally as good in my opinon. I have 18% on it and its not possible to see inside from the outside.

Myself I would stick to black tint and change wheels or something to add more "shine". I never liked mirror tint. Around here all the homie's have it and it never looks good. Besides that it could also add that Pep boys look. As least if you do black it just makes it look like your up to no good.

i like the tint idea, i usually go a bit darker in the back window so that headlights at night dont blind me and so that the damn sun leaves me be during the day. my supercab right now has 5 in the back and 20 on the sides. and it looks real good in my opinion but then again its a lifted supercab version of yours allranger minus the chrome on the box. (have it just have not had the time to get it put on) but if you do tint your windows price out taking it somewhere to get it done or plan on being real patient and maybe get an extra roll of tint so that if and when you screw up you have enough to try again and are not driving around with a half tinted rig.

but thats just my thoughts
