Found some cool info on DTC's and Scanner tool

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi.../DOBDSM971.pdf

Found this while looking for PID info for the Torque Android app. I ordered a bluetooth adapter for my phone to give it a shot. There are a couple guys on here that have been messing with getting the extended pid's to read on the 6.0's with good luck.

So as soon as I get some info on the app I'll give you all a heads up. But I thought the info for the DTC's would be useful having range info. I thought the time it took to throw a p1211 code was interesting.

The 7 second rule is a good one to know if you have a aeroforce scan gauge. I set the warning lights for IPR DC at 54%. It goes off when I reach that threshold. Then I know I have 7 seconds that those lights can be until I set a CEL. I use it regularly when I am playing on the road.

On Torque PLEASE!! post your thoughts on it when you get it. I have downloaded it but not gotten a OBD adapter yet. I want to use it to quickly scan vehicles at work and on the road.

Curious how your getting the signal from the OBD to the phone?

Unless you meant you ordered the OBD Bluetooth adapter, not a phone adapter.

Update? I know you've been using the app to troubleshoot your issue in your other thread, but I didn't want to get O/T in that thread. How does the app work for you? I need to get my hands on something that will read codes at a minimum, but I really want to be able to do a buzz test, CCT, and see IPR duty cycle and HPO pressures. Just curious how this app is working for you.

I'm also curious what dongle you got and how it is working for you.

Well it seems to work ok. The app is awesome. After some investigation the bluetooth OBD adapter I have which is a chinese one off amazon elm327 is glitchy. When the adapter work correctly it reads data fairly well going down the road. Read spot on a snap on at idle and wot with icp and dc. It doesn't do buzz tests or contribution test. But it will pull codes which for the 40 dollar total price with the adapter I thought was worth it. The fact that it will read icp and dc made it even better. Im thinking of buying a more expensive adapter. Going to talk to the app creator who I found is very helpful with problems while researching. He is on vacation at the moment.

Ill see what I can come up with on contribution and buzz test but I don't think the software has the capability.

Still experimenting with it on a couple sensors. Ill keep you all posted.

What do you think about torque, then? Six months or so should have given you plenty of time to test it out.

The cheap adapter sucks. Edm327. It has to slow a data stream. But it will pull codes. So for 35 bucks total it has paid for its self there and read my truck fine.

The adapter is like 150 for an apple product because it uses wifi for some stupid reason. Plus like 15 for the app iirc. For that price I'd just get an ae

Good info! Im getting the rzr maxx here in a few weeks and If there is an App/adaptor that will allow you to scan codes as well as get other good information I would like to jump on it as long as its cheaper than an AE scanner.

You say you got a bluetooth adaptor? Does it plug into your OBD port and sends info to your phone just like a scanguage?

Yes very similar. There is an adapter that is supposed to work extremely well with the ford can bus systems. Its around 100 but is highly recommended on torques forum and website.

Somebody try that $100 adapter out so we know whether it works! Lol, who wants to volunteer? Or you can all send me $20 and I will be more than happy to try it out and let you know how it works. I've been looking for a good all purpose scanner solution that will read my PSD. This would be a lot cheaper than buying a Aeroforce Interceptor for the truck and an all purpose scanner for everything else.
