P0476 - quick question about EBP

Got code P0476.

Using AE to monitor EBP and it's around 14 or 15 PSI at idle, but only goes up to 18 or 19 PSI while driving. Shouldn't it go higher? Would this mean that the valve is stuck open or closed? How do I fix it? Can it be cleaned / lubed or does it need to be replaced?

Thanks!

It is reading atmospheric pressure at idle, and when you get into it you should see more than that. Was that at cruise? What are you seeing when your foot is into it more?

Thanks for the reply Clay

It wouldn't get above 18-19PSI at all while driving; accelerating, cruising, climbing, etc.

Sounds like your EBP tube is clogged or more likely that your sensor might be going bad.

Yeah, I already changed the sensor and cleaned out the tube. I was just wondering if the valve deal back by the turbo could be stuck open or closed. I've tried to look back there, but it's hard to see and I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at.

Tube was dirty inside, but otherwise in good shape.

Did you also clean the port on the exhaust manifold? Before I did anything else I would verify exhaust was making it up the tube.

Low exhaust back pressure wont be related to the EBPV, it should be full open when up to temp and running, you would be way down on power and EGT would be high if it was stuck closed.
