Engine Running Hot

1990 E-350 460, E4OD.

Lately after driving the van for only 15 minutes or so, I can see white smoke coming out from where the oil fill hose connects to the engine. I think it's surface oil burning when the engine gets hot. Since I bought the van 2 years ago, she runs great but has always had a burning smell after driving. Under he van almost everything under the engine is covered in oil. Exhaust pipe right under engine was smoking a bit from surface oil. Thing is she doesn't leak oil really, I keep on top of the levels and never had a leak problem, but when you examine the engine, under the filter and dist she looks like shes been washed with oil for 20 years... Maybe some loose gaskets ? I don't know. It doesn't smoke that much, and the smoke is burning oil from the surface of the engine, just under the distributor. Any insight?
