york style A/C compressor on 300?
This might be a dumb question, but was the 300 ever available with air conditioning? I'm thinking about putting on board air on my 86 f150, and was wondering if there was a factory bracket to mount the york compressor. The compressor i got is off an early seventies v8 truck, and i feel it would be much easier to get a factory bracket than fabricating one myself. Thanks!i

My '85 E150 had this style compressor for factory air:

NAPA also shows the York piston type compressor for the '85 E150, saying it was for dealer installed air:

Thanks all for the input, and especially that link! if at all possible, i'll take the compressor from the donor vehicle also, just to be safe even if it is the same as the one ive already got, but i doubt the dealer installed air was very common. What do you think is the probability of a dealer or parts house having the dealer install kit? or just the brackets?
Of course nothing just bolts up! what kind of project would be complete without insane cursing at something seemingly easy?

When you say on-board air, I assume you mean an on-board air compressor? If so, yes, the York style should work OK (separate lubrication for the compressor and refrigerant.) If you are talking air CONDITIONING that is a different matter - the parasitic drag from a York is really high and I'd recommend converting to a Sanden-style compressor. You almost can't even feel it kick on.
There are some good posts on some of the Jeep forums about adding a York compressor for on-board air; generally for the guys who want to really run their tires soft off-road and pump them back up when they go back on the pavement.

So your 84 seams a little late for the York compressor.
Now from what I have also seen posted if factory or dealer AC I don't think you can tell by the dash vents, factory has vents in dash dealer did not but not always true.
Dealer could be mounted under the main dash.
One thing that was said is the controls. Factory is all in the dash with the normal controls, Dealer the AC was mounted somewhere else.
