2001 and older are exempt from odometer readings. Since yours is an 2003 it's still required so if they did mess with it you might have a case.

I had a lot of the issues you are referring to. My fix was a rebuilt tranny. Problem solved but not what I was hoping for. Hope its just sensors for you.

What State you in?

Can you post picture of that truck rear suspension and driver's area so we can see how many miles it really had.

I had several that had over 200K so there wear/tear.

How much you paid for that?

5.4L isn't bad. If it miss it coil packs or spark plugs issues.

Had one with 246K miles but coolant ate alum head it still running but pour coolant so fast.

Yea, what state are you living in? Is that the same state you bought the truck in? Most states will hold it as an "As Is" sale, but if there were material misrepresentations, then you could more than likely recover against the seller...

Is truck from North?

How rusty?

Have you test VSS sensor's wiring to make sure it good?

I had this issues on 95 F250 that was plow snow for 15 years. Vss sensor's wiring were rot. Cause speedo go crazy and transmission were shift crazy.

When I wasn't knowledge with volt multi tester couple years ago. I think you can test with volt multi tester on vss wiring.

I cut all plastic tubing that were wrap on Vss wiring. Found near Transmission. It was full of green corrosion.

Should say clearly. Wiring from Vss sensor on rear axle I trace to find where bad wiring it was near by transmission.

I am not expert on Multi Meter but think OHM will do? Wait for expert to chime here.

If you're asking on how to find a break in wiring, set your multi-meter on the resistance setting (look for the "ohm" symbol). Then push one probe on one end of the wire, and the other on the opposite end of the same wire. If all is well, you should see zero ohms of resistance, or somewhere close. If it shows infinite resistance, the wire is broken or the connector is badly corroded, either way it's not doing it's job. This may require long leads and a little creativity here, so be patient.
