help please

Hi. Im hoping y'all can help me out. I want to put in a push button start in my 91 f350. we had problems with not being able to start it due to the key lock cylinder not working right. we took it out to put a new one in but in doing so a friend broke the pot metal piece that goes to the acuartor rod. so now we are wondering if there is a way to set up a push button start in it? right now we have to manually push the acuartor rod down and then jump the cylinod. any help would be appreciated. thanks
or is there any other way to bypass the key ignition?

I had a friend with a 94 f150 and he ran one wire to one post of the relay on the fender to the push button, then ran a wire from the other post of the relay to the other terminal on the push button. Worked great for him. Just remember to turn your key forward so the steering wheel unlocks

thanks for the info. but what relay are you talking about? also there is no key anymore. due to what broke the steering wheel is unlocked. now though we need a better way to start the truck then pushing down the (actuator)rod on top of the steering column and then jumping the cylanoid.

The relay is the thing you have been jumping the terminals on to engage the starter. If you arrange a push button switch to supply 12v to the small terminal on that relay it should engage the starter.
It is akward but not that bad to replace the ign lock actuator in the column along with the lock cylinder but a push button switch is easier.

or just replace the steering column. it is only 8 bolts and 2 wire connectors.
