secondary engine compartment cooling fan on 1988 f 150
I have a 1988 Ford F150 with the 300 6 cyl, it has a fan mounted on the passenger side wheel well. I am assuming it is the secondary cooling fan it comes on and runs about 15 minutes after then engine is shut off. It sounds like the bearings are shot and appears to be made as one piece, if anyone knows the proper name, or has any idea where i can purchase one of these i would appreciate it very much.
thanks

That's the fuel injector cooling fan, exclusive to the early fuel-injected 300. The one on my truck has never worked in the 62K miles I've owned it, and there are many others on this board that have lived without one, too. I believe it was either '90 or '91 that Ford did away with it completely.

Well I am 100% wrong!! It does exist as an OEM part! Listed as " Anti Vapor Lock Cooling Fan" and only used on early EFI 300's because of injector issues. No aftermarket units made ford does still list it but its $420+ for it and the part number I got may not be correct. Contact NumberDummy on here for further details and part number.

Wow....
Learn something new, I guess.....
Ford390, what part number do you have?
I just looked this up in the FoMoCo parts catalog, I found:
(short version)
E8TZ-9F819-A FAN & BRACKET ASSY. (FUEL INJECTION COOLING FAN)
Fits 1987/88 F150/350 & Bronco with the 6-banger EFI engine
I can't find anybody who knows of that part number, this tells me it's been superseded or replaced and I don't have the OSI manual.
What part number do you have?
bluemtn - Do you think the bearing can be oiled?
Looks like below:

I rebuilt the one on my 89. be careful taking it apart, 2 new bearings, and a set of brushes, good to go.
fyi, the temp sensor was origionaly placed towards the front of the injection rail from the factory. If you move the temp sender to the center of the rail, between #3 and #4, it works better, and does not stay on as long
