brake light

1991 f-150
brake and anti-lock come on and stay on until i turn the motor off.this happens once or twice a week.at times it seems that there is pressure on the brakes without stepping on the pedal. in an earlier post someone mentioned that on a 1988 model it may be the ABS modulater.if my 1991 has one of these, where is it located and how could i check it out.thanks in advance for any suggestions. johnjay28

Your truck has RABS-II. The RABS valve is mounted inside the frame rail almost directly below the brake booster on the firewall. Just follow the lines from the master cylinder down, or from the rear axle forward and you'll find it. The computer is behind the glove box and can be triggered to flash out the error codes like the engine computer. A Haynes manual tells exactly how and deciphers the codes.
