19?? restoration

Okay i found this f100 and i really wanna resore it. but i want to know a little about it before i even start. I know you going to be frustrated cause i don't know "squat" about old trucks. Well it looks like someone tried to restore it because it has some stuff that i know have been replacesd like the gas tank (PERFECT CONDITION), and because it has glass Cherry Bombs on it. Exaust pipe looks new. Frame is in semi good condition. The whole truck (inside and out) looks like it was in the middle of a paint fight (like with cans)covered with differant colors cept the windows (must have been replaced). It has a straight 6 in it. I know it was running in 92 because there are like 4 little tabby things with what they did to it and how much it cost from the ... umm...place (?) like change oil _ quarts of 20W40... you know the basics.... the box needs some work. It's a Step side. and the whole inside is gunna need to be redone cause it is "splashed" with red paint. All the wires under the dash seem to be ripped out. Both floors are bad. front drivers corner is all rusted out.. you know he basics. (but god frame!!!) I stoped and look after hours so the dude wasn't there to tell me bout it. here is what the door (on the truck) said....

Warranty Number F10AL780342

W.B. (whats this) 129

Color W (guessing this means white?)

Model F100

Body 281

Max G.W 05000

Cert. Net HP 129

RPM 4000

DSO 35

It also has a emblem on the side that says F100 "TWIN I BEAM"
oh yah...the shifter is on the column...but as it sits there when i put the clutch in (very "springy") i can only get three positions out of it (1st 2nd and reverse????). Does any body know the year the estimated value (your guess is better than mine guarntee it.) Well i know i'll have more questions as the time arises. any clue ast o how much i should offer??? Also any clue on the displacemen to f the engine? Thanks a TRILLION!!!!!

19?? restoration

Hey Straight 6 - Welcome to FTE & the '47 & Older Forum.

One good way to tell the year (or at least close to it) is by the nose. You may want to take a look-see through the User Gallery on this site and see if you find anything close. You can sort the Gallery by Year and then go to the last page and work your way forward. The Sort-by-Year puts the newer trucks first - go figure!!

Cool 19?? restoration

Ford first had the twin I Beam in 1966. W.B. 129 probably means 129" wheel base. The shift linkage may have come off at the tranny, it happened to me. My brother in-law had the truck, it was quite rusty but ran great and is still on the road.

19?? restoration

Didn't Ford have the I-beam in '65?

I had an air cleaner from who knows where, but I remeber the sticker on the thing stated the engine was 223ci and 129hp, so maybe that's the size that is?

From what you decribed the truck as I would offer $300-$500 and then maybe pay a bit more if the body was unbeleivably straight. Of course I don't live in the rust belt or anything so it may not be a good offer for your area.
