I think the real reason they use these joints is so that they don't have to get the angles exactly perfect. The ball and socket can be misaligned and still seal.

Still haven't even looked at the new replacement header yet, and have yet to get underneath and (re)tighten the NEW setup. I have some time off later this month, and will be happy to get this behind me once and for all... I don't commute with the V10 anymore, so the urgency is just not there

I've found them anywhere from $20 to $50 for a kit to do one side. I might just try it and report back for anyone looking for a for sure fix to the ball flange problem. I did some roaming on a few other forums and were not the only ones having a problem with these flanges.
Have you called Hedman yet? They might want those back, maybe they can beef them up before hand. My new set will go on next week. Laid them out on floor, new bolts 1/2 inch short. Good.
Hopefully that is the extra material.

I talked to them the other day and they said they were gonna make me a set... They said they would call me the next day too and I never heard back.

Got mine installed . Much heavier set. The y pipe was not correct. It would not line up with headers and had to heat it and bend it. Then the tranny tab and the joint to cat was off. Bolted it and bent cat pipe to get rest of system to line up. Also added Gibson cat back. Sounds nice.
Need some exhaust paint on y pipe now. Heat took off coating.

I'm glad i went with the Banks headers i researched on here a long time before deciding on them before anyone in this thread contacted Headman i decided against them after reading the problems you guys where having.Hope the updated ones work out for you this time around.Ive had the Banks installed for about 10 months now and not a single problem never had to re-tighten anything.

This post is great. Quick question, how tight should the manifold bolts be?

Dont know if there was a torque value. Pretty snug is about all I can say. Standard socket wrench and holding the other side with box wrench. Help any? Directions only say dont over tighten.

I have a rattle from Gibson part of exhaust. Son going to look at it tomorrow . Hedman headers are holding up. No noise from collectors is a good sign.

Is there supposed to be a gasket between egr tube connector and the egr tube?

About two months no problems. Gibson rattle was just a bolt hitting heat shield.
