04 F-150 window regulator
Can the window regulator, in the front doors, be replaced without replacing the motor? I haven't had the pleasure of replacing one in this new a F-150 yet. The regulator is binding. I believe the cable is worn and/or frayed. Are the regulators riveted to the door? Thanks.

The regulator comes as a 1 piece assembly with motor, pulleys and cable. It is held in by bolts (4 or 5) and the glass is held by rubber lined clamps that grab the bottom of the glass and are tightened by screws. There are how-to threads you can find with a search that are pretty good. I don't know if you can buy the regulator parts individually, but the whole assy is not expensive if you go aftermarket.

they are super easy to replace, the hardest part is getting the door panel off, but that's honestly no problem either. iv'e replaced both front driver side and pass. side regulator/motor assemblies, they ran around $100 a piece at advance auto parts, but make sure you tell them what cab size you have, the crew cabs door is shorter than the ext cab and reg cab. total time it took from start to finish was 20 mins when you know what to look for, the first time i did it i was super careful about taking the door apart and it took me 45 min. once you do one the rest are the same. by far the f150 has the easiest and most affordable parts to fix and replace than anyone. i replaced my grandfathers 1999 toyota camry regulator and it was a pain to take the old one out and it cost $200 for the new part.
so no worries with ford, good luck and have fun
