I would think that if he has the origional damper to the new motor, then buys a clutch set for his truck with that motor, then gets a flywheel for a truck the same year as the motor .... it should all work. assuming that motor and tranny combo was ever available.
I read this as you where saying he could put his 28 oz. imbalance flywheel/ harmonic balancer on a 50 oz imbalance motor.

I think i see where you might read it that way....

Assuming that the motor comes from an 85 mustang, you will need to get the damper from the mustang. If you're lucky, the 'stang will be a manual, and you can use the flywheel that is on the motor now. If not, then you will have to find a flywheel for an 85 'stang.

to mate to the transmission, you will need to buy a clutch set for your year transmission bolted up to a 302, assuming that trans was ever bolted up to a 302 from the factory.

the clutch you have might bolt up and get you by. I don't know much about the 300 I6 .... but if all the bolts from the clutch cover match the flywheel for the 85 motor, it will probably work. maybe not ideal, but will get you by until you can get the right clutch for a v8.

I know in the chevy world, for a mild 350, the v6 clutches hold fine in an s10. even the 4banger clutches bolt up, but dont hold the torque.

I'd try to find a v8 clutch set for your trans if you can, then you dont have to replace the clutch for a long time after you bolt it all up.

this should be a very doable and worth while swap .... I'm not sure about the engine mounts, but i would think that if you got mounts for your year truck with a 302, everything should work ...... not sure, but that's usually all it takes.
