F250's in Australia

Hi guys, I'm new here. I bought my first F-Series truck recently and reckon its the best thing ever. Its a 2005 XLT F250 dualcab made in BRAZIL model. The thing is I want to import some parts like new grill and lights etc from USA but I'm concerned that the models will not be the same. Like if i buy a grill for an F250 2005 model out of the states, they wont fit the Aussie model. They just dont look the same to me??

Anyone want to share their experiences with me? Thanks boys.

Welcome mate!
I am moving your thread to the Aussie section. Congrats on your purchase, they are nice trucks hey?

Your model is effectively the same as the 2000 Ford sold in the states in all specifications (except the location of the steering wheel )

The body style however (which will affect the items you want to buy) is the same from 99-04 model years inclusive, so any grille or lights from that model year range will fit. The 05+ had a redesigned grille and some other stuff.

This is the forum where we get all our info. This year range (for the U.S) is relevant to our models. Top bunch of girls and guys and are always willing to help.

Yeh I get it fellas, I just don't have a dog. I just tell the missus no barking and no biting the upholstery before she is allowed in the beast

I dont know if any of you blokes have given it any thought but in the States as you know they have these awesome in-truck dashboard computers as part of their Ford Work Solutions package. I explored the option of contacting Ford Australia to see if they could source them for me but the marketing chick said they wont work here. Now I'm not as pessimistic that they couldnt work given the right tweak. Have any of you blokes got one?? Or know anyone that has done it???

She is right and she is wrong... you could make it work, but it would be a right pain in the ***.
The new trucks use a CAN-BUS system, and getting the modules to work in our trucks can be done, but you need to know your way around an electrical circuit or 2.

It would be easier (and cheaper) to get a double din on-board computer.

Impressive, you've done a terrific job. I dont know if I would have the time nor the where to start with that one. Its the kinda idea I was after, an all in one. I wanna be able to use it as a PC while on the job with email and office, functionality like wireless, bluetooth, GPS and of course the entertainment like movies, music, pics etc. Im guessing that running microsoft you can do most of that. How is the screen and that? Do you use a wireless mouse and keyboard or is the screen a touchscreen??

Thanks Nkelly

Scott.

I think it is illegal for a TV or movie screen to be viewable by the driver while the vehicle is moving - be careful with your software, for dash mounted screens best make sure the TV or movie function is disabled once the vehicle is moving.
