16.5" 8 lug wheels
Hello All,
I'm new to the site. Didn't find a thread on wheel sizes, so here is my question. I know this is a continuing problem and I can't find the solution. I have a 1999 F250 Super Duty Off road with the 16.5s and I need new tires. I want the BFG All Terrain TA KOs but they are not available anywhere, Can I find an OEM replacement rim? It is 8 lug, 170mm spacing according to the specs. Nothing fancy, I just need new tires for the truck. HELP!!!!!!

Are you asking about finding stock rims in either 16" or 17"? If so, there are a ton floating around, both OEM and aftermarket, for the pre-05s that will work. Craigslist and fleabay, make sure you get a pre-2005 set so the backspacing doesn't make you contact the leaf springs. A set of 18s for my truck set me back $400, but I sold the Conti's that came on them for $200, so not a bad deal.
If you're asking about 16.5" tires, good luck, not a common size by most major manufacturers anymore.

Thanks for the info TexTech, Yes, I am tired of trying to find tires for those 16.5s. Which would you recommend with the 6 inch lift, 16s or 17s. I like the aggressive look of the BFG "mudders" but at my age (70ish), I just want this problem to go away, so I will settle for a tire/rim combo which will get me back out in the "dirt".. Being retired in Mexico doesn't help matters. Damn, I'm not even sure I know how to search Craigs List. However, I will give it a go tonight, THX

Rim size doesn't matter nearly as much as rim width. You can get identical heghts and widths for 16s and 17s rims up to 37" tires without trying too hard, it's really whichever you can find in the correct width for the tire size and the correct backspacing.
Being in Mexico, I have no idea what you'll be able to find or where....

First for John - Thanks for the info on tire sizes available. I assume you are referring to BFG tires. I have been searching websites all day for the 35/12.5/16.5 BFG all Terrain KOs. A lot of istes list them but try to order and you get B/O. Obviously, if I can stay with the 16.5s, that's my best deal but no tires equates to "no fun". It's the rainy season down here right now and I need my "mudders". Long term prognosis for 16.5s doesn't look good sooo maybe now is the time to change to a different rim/tire combo.

For Jay SF - I see you are an "ohio" boy, soo am I. What part? I'm from Wilmington. I like the idea of 17s especially if tires are easier to come by. Do you know anyone who makes OEM rims? Just plain jane rims, you know, the old steel type. Sorry, I'm not up on all the current jargon for this. Getting to old, I guess. Hell, I can hardly get myself up into the cab anymore but when I do I sure have fun!!! Social security sure does cramp one's style, know what I mean?

Hi Jay,
If you are willing to help on this, I am more than willing to listen to your advice and check out your recommendations. It can sometimes be incredibly difficult to find good sources for this kind of thing down here. There is a price to be paid for living in what I call as close to paradise as you are likely to find. I know - Ruth & I spent the last four years before she retired travelling to retirement locations all around the world, between the 20s. When it came time to decide, Mexico beat out the likes of the Italian riviera, Hawaii, Australia, Thailand and numerous others. There are "warts" everywhere - some are just bigger than others!!!
