400 Rebuild Parts List

Here’s the deal, I’m making a list of parts I need to rebuild my 400. I’m sticking with stock replacement because I’m trying to costs down. So here’s my list so far.

302.99 Federal Mogul Prem. Rebuild Kit
Cam Bearings
Oil Pump
Gasket sEt
Rod Bearings
Brass Freeze Plugs
Cast Dished .030 over Pistons
Main Bearings
Piston Rings
32.95 Timing set
49.95 Airtex Mechanical Waterpump w/gasket
33.99 Ignition Control Module
45.95 Ignition Coil
72.95 Remanufactured Stock Distributor
18.99 2bbl carb rebuild kit
23.99 Robertshaw 180degree thermostat

49.99 starter
6.99 upper radiator hose
9.99 lower radiator hose
8.95 fuel pump insulator
Am I missing anything critical? Does anyone know of a better alternative? Does anyone know what it would cost to have a .030 over bore and hone done or what it would cost to press bearings, or have the heads fixed up? I would call a shop to ask but considering I'm on the opposite side of the world right now....lol....and none of the shops in my town seem to have email As far as distributor cap and rotor, those are brand new, as is the alternator. And of course replace the plugs/cables, pcv valve and hose.

Get the blocks align bore checked, the rods resized with new rod bolts and get it balanced if you are changing pistons.

So, I've decided to put off a full rebuild as long as I can, going to try to get away with just a super tuneup and carb rebuild for now...to be done this upcoming december when I go home on leave.
