Fuel additives with biodiesel?

Propel just opened a new station near me, with B20. Is it recommended to still use a fuel additive? I've been using Opti-Lube XPD with normal diesel and B5, but now that I'm stepping up to B20, I wasn't sure if it's a waste.

Be careful with the B20 stuff since our trucks are rated for B5 max. If you are using the Opti lub for lubricity only then I don't think it's necessary. Other fuel additives have other benefits that you may want to use for improved cetane rating, and to prevent microrganisms from forming in your fuel system especially when using Bio.

Be very careful when using Bio.

Good Luck....

I run B5 regularly. I've also run B20 when I can get it. No issues.

I've run B11 since day 1 with no issues at all. I change fuel filters at 10k and throw in cetane boost ever tankful.

I ran B20 until the dealer switched to B5 with no issues. I still used Power Service Diesel Kleen.

Stanadyne along with other manufacturers make a biodiesel additive. It is strongly recommended to use one as bio has a propencity to have water in it, especially if the truck isn't used frequently, and that leads to algae growth among all of the other fuel problems.
