The closest I may ever get to owning a T-bucket Roadster...

He's not going as far as I plan to, mine will be floored like a flat panel but taking into account the need for an air gap across the down-stream side of the evaporator.
All will come clear presently...
* At this point - Pearl Harbor Day 2011 - another truckload of untimely snow is on the ground here in the Memphis TN area, a thing I think has never happened at this time of the year before. Al Gore is not only totally full of it on the Global Warming stuff -the place is measurably fooking cooler at this point, from all that I can can see around me just now...

I don't know why it should be - but AOD tranny mounts have studs on the bottom that are approx. 1/2 inch closer together than the smaller Ranger (0.25 ton) transmanglebox...
I was hassling with it since about 0530. Naturally my die grinder is a cheap house brand from a hardware store that shall remain nameless so I ended up spending quality time with a rat-tail file
Oddly enough I think the ubiquitous "Extra Crossmember" will turn out to be useful; it helps support the gearbox while the engine is out
* at this point I feel a huge compulsion to just get this son of an assembly line set into the truck and forget about all the yippy-skippy nice stuff.

(before this sucker drops out again!)
I think I can adapt a "TK" tranny mount to an AOD trans.
If that works - I'll have backed off and PUNTED!!!
The slots for an AOD tranny mount (into the crossmember) are closer than for a Toyo Kogyo 5-speed
My reasoning is that if the bolts (TO THE TRANSMISSION) are the same, it doesn't matter what mount I use.
*** Okay - so maybe I end up replacing:
1) U-Joints
2) Serpentine Belts
3) Tires
4) The FOOKIN' trans mount....
All at the same time?
It would be FUN wouldn't it?
~ something tells me this is a bad idea, but I don't care...
~yippee kye aye!!!~
What I'm looking at specifically is using a four cylinder FIVE speed mount under an AOD with a 351W in front of it.
I dunno -
It may hold
I've never compared the two mounts.
Aaw crud - this means more pictures!
