Greetings!

I joined this site to help my brother in law with his project, he's building a 1951 F-100, flathead v-8, body work has been completed, we are getting ready to get it running and doing the wiring harness.
At this time I don't know much about the truck but I'll be learning quickly and asking the experts questions and guidance.
Thanks in advance for your help, Tony.

Welcome
The 1951 Ford is a F-1 - The F-100 series started in 1953 (Someone was going to tell you that so I figured I'd get it out of the way.
Thank your brother in law for keeping the Flathead in the Truck - Not enough folks do.
Read this thread first lots of very good information (and answers)

Thanks!

Thank you all for the welcome! Today we are going to make a rough list of what's needed to make it driveable. The plan is to wire it so it'll start by a simple push button for the starter and a toggled live wire for the solenoid, we can do the wiring harness later.
I'll try and post pictures although I'm not very good at it and if anyone asks I'll tell you what my project is, not a Ford, not a truck and not a Dodge, actually it's a '55 Chevy 150, original with the inline 6 and three on the tree.
Take care, Tony.

F-2 ?

Took a look at the truck, my brother in law says it's a F-2, it has not run in over 5 years but it seems to be complete although the drive shaft is missing, it has an alternator, was it originally 6 volt? The distributor is not electronic, it has what looks like the original single barrel carburetor, we were looking for the fuel pump but couldn't find it. I took some pictures, only need to figure out how to post them. Take care, Tony.
Ps: I'll be doing a search for tips on proper way of starting the engine after such a long time dormant.

it's a flat head..change the oil and filter ..spray some 2 stroke oil down th espark plug holes let it spin a few times and let it soak over night ..fresh fuel and it should start..or do it like I did and clean the points ,pour gas down the carb..and fire her up...then change the oil...enjoy your new mistress !!!
