94 F150 E40D swap to ZF 5 speed swap questions
I have a 1994 F150 302 (5.0L) with a E40D automatic transmission that i'm swapping to a ZF-42 5 speed standard transmission from a 1994 F250 with a 351W (5.8L)
Few things i need to find out
Will the starter work from my automatic in my standard transmission or is there a different reach?
I have the flywheel from the 351W (5.8L) and its a 164 tooth with external balancing but need to know if it will work on my 302 engine,
Also how do i know where to line up the external balancing on the flywheel so the engine is balanced properly?

The starter wont work because when the automatic starter when in the disengaged position is engaged into the teeth of the manual flywheel. I know this from experience. when I did my swap I left the auto starter on there. It cranks the truck up fine. but when the truck is running you get this horrible noise. The noise being instead of the starter turning the motor, the motor is running the starter-way past the rpms the starter is made to handle, especially when you are out there hammering down on your new zf swap.
As far as flywheels off the top of my head i wouldn't think they are the same but you cant argue with part numbers either. Do some double checking on that.
And finally the flywheel will only bolt up one way. one of the bolt holes is offset so if you get all 6 bolts in the flywheel its on right if you don't then its not.
