B&M Shift Improver Kit

hey i just bought a shift improver kit for my 91 f150 with an automatic E4OD type transmission. there is two stages stage 1 says RV/Heavy Duty, Stage 2 says Street/Strip, stage 2 will give you more performance. so i dont know which one i should put on my truck. if stage 2 gives you more performance in shifting i dont understand why anybody wouldnt want to instal stage 2? anyone have this kit installed or can help?

The street/strip will make it shift faster and harder , it will bark the tires when it shifts , so it depends on what you want , i like the S/S kit ....Lew

STAGE 1. HEAVY DUTY
Firm positive shifts without loss of driver comfort for improved performance in all street vehicles. Recommended for regular passenger vehicles.

STAGE 2. STREET/STRIP
Provides positive shifts for high performance street use or for competitive events. This level is for the enthusiast who wants the hardest, quickest possible shift.

You want to install stage 1! Stage 2 is so hard that it is non streetable! Try them both and see how they are. Stage two only shifts at WOT and does not allow for slow up shifts.

Stage two should not be that tempting its really noting more than forcing the trans cut back valve to stay closed forcing full line pressure on the clutches and drums. It shakes the whole truck when it shifts and not very fun!

....I use the stage 2 and if shifts fine at part throttle , but it will spin the tires with no problem with higher rpm shifts , its been in for 3 years now with no problem and is streetable for me anyway....Lew

Does the Stage 2 hurt the trans at all? Or is it just rougher?

Stage two is just like when the trans goes into its fail safe program to protect itself. It wont hurt the trans but may take out U joints, spring perches, cab mounts, motor/trans mounts and lastly your teeth.... In all honesty it will add to clutch life in the trans as they cant slip at all.

Why are people talking about installing one or the other like this is a valve body.. This is a 25 buck electronic switch. You flip it and that's the stage its on... Stock, 1, or 2 ... I may be thinking of another B&M product
