Automatic Transaxle- Fluid Question, Non-Ford
Non Ford autmoatic transaxle fluid question for the family Hyundai Accent.... it's a 2009 with a 1.6L I4 making a raging 112HP, 28k on the clock.
This thing has a reccomended 100k+ mile service interval, unless you read the manual and find out the fluid interval is 30k if "driven in traffic at temps of over 90*". Since I live in the furnace that is North Texas, and it's been oh about 105* this whole week and over 100* since June.... figured I might should look into this maintenance tidbit. Rough specs: trans is 6.5qt fluid capacity, a drain plug for the trans pan, and no internal filter.
I read something about a full time RVer doing this in his truck, so I thought I'd ask here:
Since draining the pan is a cake walk on this golf cart and the maintenence interval is so short, I was thinking that instead of messing around with flushing the trans I would just drain and replace whatever is in the pan on more frequent intervals. I figure with a 6.5qt capacity, if it gets out half at a time, then draining and replacing every 7K miles (facotry recommended oil change interval, I do 3.5ks) means I do a complete change roughly every 30k.
Since I'm nearing the 30k mark, I figured I'd accelerate the first three changes and do them every 100 miles, that should be enough time to mix up the fluid and exchange whats in the torque converter I guess? I'm planning on using the factory el-cheapo Hyundai branded fluid since it's going to be changed so much, so is mixing new and old going to be an issue? Or am I totally off my rocker here?
