Love the BT vans, more expensive than the truck itself!
They are luxury homes on wheels, made to be hauled
anywhere in Australia without breaking.

You can pay almost as much for substantially inferior vans.

It's the built to a standard not a price mentality of BT
that I admire, wish there were more companies like them.

The only reason I don't own one already is that the only
way I could afford one is to sell the house.

That's the plan.

Red face Not really effortless towing in the Snowies

Did a bit of a trip with the van over the Christmas break. The factory settings, don't really cut the mustard while towing 3 ton. Talbingo mountain was a bit of an effort. I've got a Superchips 1705 tuner but there's no power to make it work. Out of the 2 ciggy lighters on the dash, one works & the other doesn't, which would probably be power to the OBII port. Once away from the real big hills, we cruised fairly well.

Yeah the Superchip 1705 is a bit out dated now and harsh on trans shifts , you'd be better off getting a chip like Hydra or DP so you can have dedicated tunes for towing that 3 ton van.
I had a 1705 and found steep grades where a struggle and have since changed to a DP -Tuner with 10 tunes , 3 for towing and the rest for general driving , It's like getting a new truck.

It's on the same fuse as the Diagnostic port at least on the 99-00 models. #22-50amp under the bonnet, and then thru #3-20amp under the instrument panel.

Feeds pin 16 on the Diagnostics port and the lighter.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info Blue7.3
I was given the old 1705 from a relly who sold his truck ages ago. Although they're a bit dated now, thought all the diagnostic info could be helpful at some stage.
Also, I'm a bit apprehensive of shelling out nearly $1k (from what I've heard) for a newer type tuner

Back to bush tracker

this is our new rig.
Our second bushtracker a 21 ft with all the fruit. Comes in at over 4 tons and is not full yet.
Sold the first one because the weight was prohibitive
Then had a brain wave, why not combine a great truck with a great van and have the best of both worlds.
Thinking of swapping the 20" wheels for something a bit more available in Oz.

Nice part of the country Nordave right on the coast, but now with the new truck and BT you won't be there for long .
Good choice with the suspension , i don't think the air bag system went off to good, not as good as Steve thought they would be anyway.
We need some more photo's of the new BT and the truck.

Sorry thought you meant the truck suspension
To van has got air suspension. It's second hand and already got it fitted.
Don't think I would get it if I was doing it new. (Expensive)Handles really well and is great to level on uneven sites. It always has slow leaks.
Doesn't have the sea saw motion of our first bushtracker.
He f Truck certainly handles it with ease

Finally powered up pin #16 in the OB11 by running a wire for permanent power from my brake controller. Successfully put the "safe tow" tune in with the 1705.
Just driving locally without a load, I can feel the extra 150'lb torque & the 70hp.
Will hook up the van next week to tow to a new work location. I'll be interested to see if there's difference in fuel economy.

Good to hear , just take it easy when towing for the first time so you don't fry the tranny , if it starts changing hard you should back off.

Oh , i read on Steve's site that the air bag suspension was a bit of a mongrel to set up, you must have an easier way to do it.
Leaks, well you'll get plenty of them travelling on some of these roads you have over your way.
I thought i seen you on Steve's site selling your old F-Series about 6 months ago, could have been someone else.
