Rough Running 05 F350 5.4
As the title said I have an 05 350 with the 5.4 and for the past couple weeks it has been starting rough or intermittent and sometimes when I accelerate it shudders, almost like it drops a cylinder or something. I was wondering if anyone had had any problems like this or if this is something that has happened and there was a recall. Thanks for any help that can be thrown my way!

Not a recall, but there was an extended warranty issued on 2005's w/ the 5.4. It's on the injectors which can stick open or closed - that could be your problem, but as mentioned you really need to scan for codes first. I had one bad that was replaced under the extended warranty, I was getting a misfire code and lean code on the same bank. To know if that's it for sure though you need something than can read fuel trims.

With these trucks will the check engine light come on and stay on with a code? Or can it throw a code without the light being on? I had read somewhere about the extended warranty and everything i read makes it sound like thats what it is but I don't have the check engine light on. The dealership tried to tell me that the fuel pump was weak, which I have never heard of. Fuels pumps to my knowledge were either running or not. But could a low fuel pressure be because of an injector being bad. Thanks again for all this help. I would love to have this truck 100% because I do enjoy it.

I would guess coils, that was what was wrong with my truck with similar issues.
Get a dealer to perform a Power balance test. Also see this article.

Its most likely the coils.
I just bought 10 new coils on ebay for this exact problem.
