Any of you guys look at the website Rust Free Classics? Lots of good dents on there. The guy buys them out west and brings them back to the Midwest (around Indy I think) to sell. Gets good prices for them but they look to be good trucks. Descriptions and pics are good. I'm curious to see what you think about the site.

 

I never seen them until now but they look like great condition trucks, just a little too pricy.....

 

I almost bought a 67 4x4 from him and he was willing to include towing to me for $200 which I thought was a bargain and a half. I'm in the northern part of the state at least 4 hours away.

 

I have looked at them before, they are a little pricy, but they are in time warp condition for most of us here on the east coast.

 

And they look like many of the trucks I see driving around daily here in So. Cal.

 

My truck came from a guy like that out of Auburn, MA. He picked it up in NC I believe. My dad bought it in '98 with new paint, a knocking engine, and a weak transmission, for $4K.

 

Those trucks are hardly worth the price the guy is asking... Take a close look at most of the trucks. He calls them "survivors", but some of them have worse rust than my truck that I bought for $300 up here in Canada, and they're almost the same vehicle...

I wouldn't trust a company called "rust free classics" that sells rust buckets... no thanks.

The guy buys rust free originals from the Southwest and sells them in the rust belt for a nice profit, where rust free trucks are virtually non-existent, it's called entrepreneurism.

 

I'm drooling. If you lived in the Midwest, you would be too. If people will pay that price, that's what they're worth. I've seen maybe two trucks from here in Ohio in that kind of condition in my whole life. If you wanted, I guess you could drive out West and try to find the truck you want, then get it back East. It wouldn't be cheap.

 

I may not live in the Midwest, or even America for that fact... but that doesn't mean that our vehicles don't get rusty. Even if I did live in the Midwest, I wouldn't scream like a school girl to find a truck like he's posting where he's located. There are plenty more trucks in much better shape than what he has posted for a better price... they may not be found where he's located... but I'd sure as !@#$ take a vehicle directly from So. Cal. rather than take one that's been brought to the midwest to rust.

His vehicles and prices don't even make me flinch for my wallet...

 

I'm not saying I would pay what he wants, but someone might. That's what matters. Time is money, so its worth having someone else do all the leg work in finding a Western truck that you want. Plus, it's his risk in bringing a truck East and trying to sell. If you're a buyer, you don't have to buy if you don't want it. Just my .02 cents.

 

Good discussion on this. I appreciate everyone's opinion positive or negative on what this guy is doing. I'm not in the market to buy one of his trucks but I like checking every couple of weeks to see what he's got. I like to look at the pics and read about the trucks. I've also looked to see if there's a color or combination of colors I'd like for the two dents I have. I can also see how each truck is equipped based on the VIN and learn a little that way. I like the 4x4's which he specializes in. Sure, the prices seem high but maybe not so much for those trucks in the Midwest. I've got family in Phoenix so if I was looking for a "rust free" classic I'd head out there to look but then I'd have to get it back to IL. Bottom line is the guy has been in business several years and if you look at the sold gallery he's sold quite a few. I think his descriptions seem honest but if I was really interested I'd go over there and really look the truck over before forking over the money. I'm sure you guys in the west could buy those trucks for much less. Thanks again for the comments.

 

I'm glad you posted it. Very interesting. I love wasting hours looking at old trucks! And the guy posts plenty of pictures. It's cool to see some stock trucks.

 

I agree fordguy! I've been looking at the site for several years. Just another opportunity to see some cool Ford trucks. Since I got a 75 Highboy this year I've really been looking at those everywhere I can.
