1997 Explorer 4.0 OHV Cam Sensor Alignment
Please Help.
Determined my Cam Position Sensor is improperly aligned after a recent engine rebuild.
Checked my Ford Service CD and it states the arrow on the Cam Position Sensor Alighment tool should be facing toward the front of the engine... The Photo shows the arrow facing toward the firewll.
Next, Checked my Haynes manual for the 96 and later 4.0 Liter OHV engine... Haynes says the position should be 60 degrees counter clockwise from the line between the engine and bell housing.
Next, went to the Ford dealer and spoke with one of their engine mechanics who has performed this activity several times. He checked the book and told me the book was wrong... The arrow on the Cam Alignment took should be facing the fire wall.
Does anyone know what the proper allignment should be??
Am doing this exercise due to excessive fuel consumption and no power.
Thnks
