About me and my trucks(the untold story)

Hey everyone, never knew how to post pics but here is some history about me and the trucks.

I recently bought a 1974 F250 4X4. Standard cab with a long bed. This is the first car ive bought myself.... Ill be 18 soon. I currently have been driving a '79 Bronco which was my dads first car back in '79.. Im restoring both and keeping them forever...

Back to the truck. It has had 2 previous owners. The first owner was a mechanic and the second owner bought it to haul a 36' fishing boat. The 2nd owner put less than 1700 miles on it in the 12 years he owned it. The truck has 85000 miles on it and is believed that this is the true mileage!!!! It has like no rust! Minor surface under the bed and some bubbles under the paint. It has a 390 with 4BBL Holly double pumper. The truck when i bought it had a new HD radiator, custom headers, shift kit, offroad cam, and a 78 4X4 front end so i now have discs in front.

I plan to redo the truck to a new paint color due to the paint being sunburnt and cracking and the new color because the blue (even though its my favorite color) gets really dirty fast and i hate looking at the truck covered in dust in just a day of sitting in my driveway. It also gets super hot in the sun. So im painting it like a 50/50 ice cream bar (orange and white). Looks really good in this paint scheem.

I have always been a ford fan due to the fact that everyone in my family has bought fords since FORD MOTOR COMPANY introduced the first MODEL T.... Which my grandpa had! He also had a model A and he only paid $100 for it.... Wish he still had it....

Always wanted the newtruck from FORD as well as a classic dent. AKA 2011 Super Duty but its a little outa my budget right now. So i found this truck and bought it for $5250... I know that sounds like alot but the body is great and it sounds and runs awsome!

So i have been the proud owner of a 74 F250 4X4 for the past month or so and am going to do a full (part frame off) restoration.

Here are some pics of it;
IDK why it looks so good in this first pic but it doesnt look this good. And this was taken with my phone!

Nice rig! That's a really good starting point. Congrats. But I think ya oughtta do my grill treatment with silver leading edges and black returns. Doing so would restore your "dentsideness".

About the sunburnt roof... that's just a bad clear coat. A good paint job will not peel. FYI, Ford had similar problems in the late 80s and early 90s with sheets of factpry clearcoats coming off their cars and trucks.... At yer age however ya would likely not know about that. Whoever shot your rig might have gotten lazy.

My 70 is original mileage too but it apparently did alot of work and spent most of its life in Idaho... and it shows. I couldn't pass up $650 for a running and relatively clean drivetrain but mediocre body. That's okay...I can weld and may turn it into a shortbed.

IDK how everyone gets their dents so cheep.... Do they just have alot of rust and body work? Cuz every truck ive seen go up for sale around me is rusted through inside out and they are asking 1500+. One i even saw mold growning on the engine. Nvr knew that was possible!

I agree. I did end up with mine for 1k, with zero rust running. But blown heads, and rag joint missing and a caliper. now 8 years later shes got about 5k into it. still no paint but thats soon. Time and $ been hard to come by. Search high and low, dont settle, one will apear.

heres one for under 600.00 bucks in Hemet

paid $600 for mine, runs(barely), some rust but not as much as youd expect for a beat-up old farm truck.

Cheap? I could only wish. I paid $9000 for mine and this is how it looked when I brought it. -Zero Rust- a true California truck.

And this is how it looks now.

You got a pretty good deal, California trucks with no rust and in good condition will get the higher dollar. Don't feel bad about your clear coat, I have the same problem and I hope to get mine re-shot next summer.

You really have a nice truck. Keep us posted on your work and if I ever take my truck to Chula Vista I'll PM you and we could meet up.
