Dual exhaust on a '94 F150 5.8L

I currently have a single exhaust on my truck. I think it's 3 inch. I want to put dual exhaust on as I'm hoping to improve the mileage. I think what I want is called a true dual exhaust setup as I want to have them run from each manifold instead of from the cat back. I'm not overly concerned with power as the truck has enough for me. I don't care what it sounds like either as long as it doesn't sound like a tractor!
If anyone has any comments on how dual exhausts may affect performance I would like to hear from you.
Btw, I am also changing the air intake so it can breathe easier.
