2012 F-150 SuperCrew to get extended payload
Check out this homepage article about the 2012 F-150 SuperCrew getting a significantly larger payload. Is the larger payload in the SuperCrew a welcome addition?

SuperCrew just means 4 door right? So, the 4 door models will now have a heavier payload capacity. What are they saying about the 6.5' bed? The 6.5' bed was always available with the SuperCrew. You can still get the 5.5' bed, right?

Not all trucks are equal. A regular cab 4x2 truck will inherently have a higher payload capacity than a heavier 4x4 Screw truck will have as these trucks are currently built on the same chassis.
The 2012 Scew trucks will have some frame re-enforcements enhancements that will enable it to carry a similar payload as the reg cab trucks.
It makes sense from a business standpoint to offer this as these trucks fetch far bigger bucks than a reg cab 4x2 XL does.

I like the option. I am not sure if this article means the package is available (like the heavy payload option you could get on a XLT w/ 8' bed) or if it means this is how they're all going to roll off the line.
I agree with Tseekins - doesnt make sense for everyone, as lots of people will do just fine with the current payload capabilities. Wonder what the impact will have on the ride as I was really impressed with the ride of the 2011 Screw.

As said above... if this new capability hurts fuel economy or ride, I'd probably rather do without.

it's a great option for those who want to stick with a 150 versus a 2/350 whether it's because the 150 is so much more nicer aesthetically and/or easier to park due to its smaller size.
I personally don't need that additional capacity, especially since there will probably be a scarcity of 7-lug aftermarket wheels to my liking (I'm one of those "vanity" types and need my "bling" fix in the form of shiny rims ).
