radiator plugging with grass, etc

Anyone have this problem? I have to blow my radiator out about once a week due to grass, seed heads, etc getting sucked on it. Always between the intercooler and the radiator. Im wondering if a seal fell out, or what.

Thanks in advance!

I wish I could be more help, but I did see this tool while I was at harbor freight the other day. Looks like it could be a handy thing to keep in the tool box.

Thanks. My radiator is new, but its sucking grass and stuff up on the face of the radiator. You can see in between the radiator and the intercooler, like there is a seal gone or something....beats me, but its a pain getting that cleaned every few days.

Is it actually going through the A/C condenser and then sticking to radiator? If so cover the front of the condenser with a piece of screen. make it much easier to clean. Just a thought.

Nothing on the condenser at all. It all gathers up between the radiator and the inter cooler. Not to bad to clean out, but every few days, ugh.......

I see there are flaps on the sides of the rad, but you can see a 1/2 gap at the top. Im not sure if the debris is coming from the bottom, or around the sides....

That must be the problem then, I do not have that on the truck. You can see the rad from underneath. There is a flap there but nothing that looks like that.

Okay, I need to buy one, thanks guys!!

If he is going through hay fields and stuff, its liable to do it regardless. We have alot of problems with that with the trucks that go off roading at work though the briars and weeds.

In Texas right now we have zero tall grass and not many bugs.I have installed screen door screen in front of my radiators/coolers to catch bugs and grass.Really east to just remove and clean. Then re-install.

just a bit of advice haha i see u think of this as a chore but i work on military equipment such as hmmwv's MRAPS and such cause im deployed to afghanistan, and i have them come in all the time cause people dont wash that crap out of the radiator and eventually it builds up so bad and it causes it to overheat if i were you i would wash it out every week with a pressure washer i wash my vehicles every weekend and as a mechanic ive seen the benefiets of washing ur rig regularly

i love washin my cars hahah i take pride in it im weird tho hahah but the whole mesh screen thing isnt a bad idea but make sure it doesnt restrict and flow otherwise ur defeating the purpose!
