V10 Towing

Totally agree!!! My TH is about the same weight, it has a 10.5K rating. I have 4.30 gears and 315 tires and have NO issue getting the load moving or keeping it moving. I can tow the Cajon Pass (8% grade for 3.5 miles) at 60mph, and still have room to accelerate. This is bone stock, I haven't had a chance to test out my 5Star tow tune yet. And I got 8.8mpg doing it. Not fabulous, but the trade off is that I don't have to worry about having enough power to pull the load.

....or any worries about getting there either.

Decided to move a A/C unit this past weekend to put at our new house. I borrowed a 20' car hauler from a buddy that's rated at approximately 12,000 lbs and loaded her up with a John Deere skid steer 325 that tips the scales at about 8400lbs. I'm guesstimating a total of about 10,500 lbs behind the truck, not including the smaller unit that was in the bed and then the large unit that was on the trailer after switching them out. The truck averaged about 9-9.5 mpg towing this load at 55. Now for the actual towing report, I have towed this same trailer with my old truck, 2006 F250 6.0, the V10 towed the trailer MUCH better and seemed to have more power than the diesel. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed and it sounded good doing it!
Sure wish mine was a 3V.

Agreed. I plan on swapping out to my smaller tires for our camping trip this week because it is almost all towing in the mountains on tight, twisty climbs. I normally run 305/70R16's for going out in the sand and non-towing use. I will throw on my 285/75R16's for this trip just because the extra RPM will help going up the hill pulling the trailer.

On paper, yes. But as all manufacturers are slightly different and my two sets are different manufacturers, they are about 1" different in height when I stand them side by side. With my manual transmission it is enough difference that I can run 3rd gear with 285's up the tight-n-twisties instead of 2nd gear with 305's.

V10 Towing Capacity
Hello All,
I'm new to the forum and new to Ford trucks.
I have a 2006 Ford F250 with the V10 and manually transmission.
I'm planning to pull a large boat and need a capacity around 13,000 lbs.
I have pulled the boat with the truck and it tows fine however I'm not sure it's legal.
Does anyone know or have experience on what this truck can legally tow using the hitch? I seem to be finding weights from 9800K - 13500.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
