You also have an external tranny filter. Motorcraft or NTZ.

From the Rotella website:

"Shell Rotella® T6 Full Synthetic oil features an advanced multi-functional, low-ash additive technology in a synthetic base oil designed to provide highly responsive protection that continuously adapts to your driving conditions."

http://www.shell.com/home/content/rotella/products/t6/

Walmart carries it here.

1- Yes

2. Yes

3. Recommended in the manual: Change the fluid and external filter every 30k.

Go up to the Tech Folder at beginning of threads......great info in there.

That's one hundred percent, unadulterated bovine excrement. I wouldn't let your friend near your truck.

The external tranny filter is Motorcraft FT-145.

A lot of guys run the factory air box and filter. It flows great and does an excellent job of filtering. I have a K&N FIPK II intake that I ran on the track a few times. It didn't offer any performance advantage. After 2K miles I pulled it and put it back in the box.

NTZ makes the Motorcraft tranny filter. NTZ cheaper on line @ dieselfiltersonline.com. I change mine every other oil change, 10,000 miles. Cheap ins.

When you buy the external tranny filter, (the toilet roll):

-Sold as a Ford component (FT-145 - $19.99) you do not get a new o-ring with it.
-Sold as NTZ component (NTZ09-C09B - $12.99) you will get a new o-ring.

http://www.dieselfiltersonline.com/

Ford charges $7 for removing and disposing of the o-ring ... open the box, close the box, disposal fee, taxes, insurance, small profit ... I'm surprised it isn't more than $7.
