Removing Floor Carpet Completely?

Hey guys,

I've been doing some interior mods to my 1992 f-150 XLT and I was wondering if removing the carpet would look good. The paint underneath seems to be fine and I can easily remove the seat to pull the whole carpet out.

Will the floor be too hot without the carpet and insulation? For anyone who has done this before; any suggestions would be welcome. I like the more classic look of not having that ugly **** carpeting.

Thanks.

I don't really consider the factory carpet to be **** carpet. Mine was in bad shape when I got my truck. I opted to get the factory type vinyl / rubber floor covering. I really like it. I don't think you will like not having anything in there. FYI, do not get the black rubber floor covering made by ACC from JCW. That stuff is complete junk.

Everyone has read my mind....My vinyl mat had gotten a funky smell to it (Water trapped in the sound deadener) and I removed it....And thanks to my truck being a 5 speed....It is now a loud microwave....

ahaha, when i first got my truck the guy figured hed clean the whole truck while it had a SALE sign on it...which included him taking a waterhose to the interior...granted the vinyl floors are better for water, a waterhose..ehh..too much....so i drove around without any insulation or anything for bout a month and it didnt really bother me much....then again it was when it was still pretty cold outside..so it kinda helped haha

My 1992 has no carpeting in it right now because I have gutted and am redoing/cleaning the interior.

The carpet is now cleaned and shampooed, floor repaired and rustproofed, and I can't wait to get the carpet back in. The floor is very warm above the tranny and it is very noisy without the carpet and sound proofing.
