Welcome aboard; have you check ebay? I usually see one or two there; I have also purchase some at swap meets as well. I usually don't worry aobut whether or not they work; I use them more eye candy than entertainment.

Hemmings Motor News / Services Offered section / Has radio repair shops listed. Buying a used radio: It may be in no better condition than the one you have now, it might be worse.

The last time I looked, no seller of used radios offers any sort of 'money back' guarantee.

If the radio has tubes and makes a humming noise when turned on, the vibrator is history.

The vibrators used with tube type radios are readily available and the same ones were used on all makes cars/trucks.

Would the factory radio out of a 65' work? I found one in a junkyard and was thinking about buying the radio out of it since it looked similar

Same AM radio: 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1961/67 Econoline / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1000 / 1964/71 C Series Tilt Cab / 1966/77 Bronco / 1967/69 F800/1000.

1961/62 (possibly 1963-cannot recall) have tubes. The others have transistors.

The brackets, speaker grilles, mounting hardware are different on Bronco's, Econolines, C Series Tilt Cabs.

Back then, radios were an extra cost option or as an accessory available at the parts counter, so not all these vehicles will have one.

C3AZ-18813-C .. Antenna / Obsolete/Reproduced ~ 1961/64 Ford Custom/Galaxie/500XL / 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1000 / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Thanks, I was also wondering about the headlight bessels. Are they the same on the 65'? Also had a nice chrome front bumper, would this fit as well?

Transistor units appear in 64. Earlier units are tube and fairly easy to have fixed.

The bumper will not fit as you have a 3 bolt and the 65 is a two bolt. It can be adapted by removing the 3 bolt brackets and adding 2 bolt brackets.

I would recommend you have the tube radio upgraded to modern internals for AM FM and built in MP3 i pod interfaces. It is costly but well worth the effort as you do not then need a secondary system.

Thanks to both of you and that's a cool upgrade to the radio, I was thinking about something like that but didn't know you could have it done. I will probably be getting all of the above including bumper. I was just guessing on the year model of the donor truck but I did notice it had 3 bolts on each side for the bumper. Where can I get my radio upgraded though?
